The municipality of Matulji has an exceptional geostrategic position, as it is located next to the Slovenian border, near the port of Rijeka, the Rijeka-Rupa-Zagreb highway and the Rijeka-Šapjane-Ilirska Bistrica railway line, and is the point of connection with the pan-European corridors Vb and X. Zone R-2 is located opposite the Business Zone R-1 and is connected to each other by an uneven intersection with access to the state road D 8. The entrance to the zone is 3 km from the Rupa-Rijeka highway, the Jurdani junction, 12 km from the Port of Rijeka and 40 km from the Rijeka Airport.
