The zone is located in the northern part of the Municipality of Matulji, on the natural traffic route from Rijeka to Trieste and Ljubljana, near the state border with the Republic of Slovenia. Due to its size, it represents the largest work zone in a series of planned zones on the stretch Matulja - Rupa and one of the largest zones in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County. The main railway line Rijeka - Šapjane - Ilirska Bistrica and the distribution 110 kV transmission line Matulji - Ilirska Bistrica pass through the zone. The zone stretches in a southeast-northwest direction for a length of approximately 2800 meters, between the state road D8 in the northeast and the newly built Rijeka-Rupa highway on its southwest side. The space between these two roads is 500 to 900 m wide, and the average width of the zone is approx. 600 m. The size of the zone and its comparative advantages enable the organization of various activities - functionally and technologically related.
