Project description:
The historic Opatija swimming pool Slatina is a physically and content-unconsolidated space in the very heart of the city and requires a new design, thus becoming the new Opatija waterfront - a new meeting place and a new center of Opatija and will influence the further development of tourism in Opatija, the destination of Kvarner and the wider region. The new facilities will further refine and enhance the natural spatial phenomenon of Slatina and will be built on in phases along with the existing area of the swimming pool. Physical and substantive extension of the existing area of the swimming pool, paving with a combination of stone, wood, natural materials and natural organic form is planned. The space will have a polyvalent character for all times of the day and seasons. New rows of trees, parallel walkways, groups of low and high greenery, focal points for public events, squares, micro and macro zones of the swimming pool, events and meetings are planned along the entire zone of the swimming pool. The end zone of one side of the swimming pool, the so-called Pančera, will further emphasize its unique natural position and repurpose the contents.
