The purpose of the project is to further develop the airport by expanding its capacity in order to meet new safety and traffic regulations in air traffic and ensure year-round use and increase in passenger and cargo traffic.

Construction includes:

• reconstruction and expansion of the passenger building
• reconstruction and expansion of the aircraft parking platform and reconstruction of the runway
• construction of facilities for storage and manipulation of goods transported by air in the business zone
• extension and reconstruction of existing paths for driving

For the financing of the Rijeka Airport d.o.o. project, it is possible to use EU funds in parallel (mixed/in parallel) with the public-private partnership model. Concession for services with characteristics of public-private partnership.
Legal and technical preparations for the complete realization of the project of renovation, modernization and development of Rijeka Airport doo, which are determined to be necessary through the development of conceptual solutions, must be carried out in accordance with the valid regulations of the Republic of Croatia on construction, environmental protection, ownership and in accordance with special regulations on airports and air transport traffic.
